BIG-SERVING Lee McArdle won the under-18 boys' doubles at Fulford Junior Tennis Championships.

He defeated Daniel Bellamy 6-3 in the final but the duo then teamed up for the doubles and were beaten 6-2 in the final by Adam Skene and James McMahon.

James Meadows defeated doubles partner Daniel Bruce 6-2 in the final of the under-14 singles.

Meadows and Daniels won the doubles final, beating James Pauw and John Oliver 6-4 in a thrilling duel.

The under-12 boys attracted the biggest entry in which Tom Richardson beat Max Henderson, who was finally overpowered 6-1 in the final. Richardson and Henderson were partners in the doubles final and went straight into a 4-0 lead against Arran Tate and Tom Walker, who battled back to level the match.

It stood at 5-5 with the first couple to win the next game to be crowned champions. Richardson and Henderson just managed to pull it off.

Favourite Chloe McLaren used her excellent left forehand drive to good effect to beat Jenny Rowland 6-2 in the under-14 singles final.

McLaren and Catherine Rooke took the doubles, beating Rowland and Amanda Coward 6-3.

The under-12 girls singles' title went to Faye Garland, who beat Jane Wallace 6-4 in a match of long rallies.

Garland and Wallace whitewashed Imogen White and Kirsty Smith 6-0 to land the doubles crown.

The tournament was run by Catherine Smith and Beryl Bean, who presented the prizes.
