CHILDREN at a York school are enjoying using their new railway-themed playground.
And the railway link is set to continue after parent fundraisers at Poppleton Road Primary School received a £1,000 boost from York-based company, Railtrack.
Members of the Parent Teacher Association have completed the first phase of their playground improvement project with a play area on a railway theme.
Ideas for further facilities include, basketball nets, junior play equipment and developing a wildlife theme.
Railtrack is working closely with the teaching staff on ideas for a long-term partnership to ensure children play safe and stay safe.
Karl Jarvis, acting head teacher at the school, said: "Our excellent PTA is delighted and grateful to receive the support and encouragement of Railtrack for their playground project."
