TADCASTER Swim Squad savoured medals galore at the third and final gala in the 2001 Continuum Series at Leeds International Pool.

Twelve of the 26 strong squad collected 32 medals, while there were also five speeding tickets for swimmers who swam faster than the entry times.

Amy Costello, 15, took winners' medals in the 200metres individual medley and the 100m breaststroke, as well as fifth in the 50m freestyle.

Those superb performances were enough to give her a superb second placing for her age group in the competition overall.

Andrew Cowan, 13, also had a successful meet as he struck gold in the 200m individual medley, silver in the 200m backstroke and bronze in both the 50 and 100m breaststroke.

Felicity Prior, meanwhile, celebrated a clean sweep of the medals after taking first place in the 200m freestyle, second in the 200 individual medley, plus 100m breaststroke and bronze in the 50m freestyle for 14-year-olds.

There were silver medals and personal best times for James Webster in the 11-years 200m backstroke and for Anna Horwell in the 200m freestyle. Bronze medals went to Matthew Fiddler, with a good 200m breaststroke, and Stuart Prior for the 14-years 200m backstroke.

Claire Passmore and Luisa Horwell gained fourth place medals, while Kristian Stafford had a fifth place finish in the 200m individual medley to go with a seventh in the 200m freestyle.

Those combined points took him to fourth overall.

Other seventh place medals went to Adam Milner in the 200m butterfly and Mary Clerehugh for the 50m and 200m breaststroke.

Chloe Carter and Stafford both collected speeding tickets in the 50m and 200m backstroke, as did Milner in the 50m backstroke.
