Hello, folks. Evening Press here.

I've been back in those starting stalls again this week. I've been having to get used to them because in Flat racing, especially the sprints, the start can be very important, and you don't want to feel uncomfortable before the race or get out of your blocks like a donkey.

Other than that, there's not much to report.

It's still a few weeks before I race and although my backers are keen for me to get into the action as soon as possible, I can assure you that I am even more eager than they. But patience is a virtue, or so my doctor told me.

Meanwhile, one of my pals here at Wold House Stables in Norton has suggested that, because of all the publicity I have had, I should get myself a mascot for when I do finally race, like those that football and rugby teams have.

I'm sure he was only joking but I kinda like the idea, walking out behind my own little buddy.

I would probably prefer to have my own customised mascot - a giant rolled-up newspaper with legs, perhaps - but if I was to choose an existing one to do the job for me it would have to be York City FC's loveable rogue, Yorkie the Lion.

I understand that he has built himself a bit of a reputation and has even appeared on television a few times, so he could bring me great publicity.

However, judging by City's results last season, he doesn't seem to bring that much luck and, being an oversized furry sort, he probably doesn't know much about horse racing or betting. Furthermore, us horses have never been big pals with lions.

I think I'll stick with the giant rolled-up newspaper with legs. Either that or just knock the idea of having a mascot on the head.

Regards,

Evening Press.
