THIS is exactly what Martin Hall is warning against.

Unaware of the hidden dangers beneath, these youths are risking their lives with every jump.

Captured by an Evening Press cameraman, the youngsters were spotted leaping off the bridge yesterday at about 2pm.

A police spokesman said: "We would urge all young people to remember the dangers that water can present and the risks they are taking if they play on the bridge.

"This activity is dangerous and reckless. Heatwave or no heatwave, this is not something they should be doing."

Mick Brighton, who works in North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue's Fire Safety Department, also condemned the activity.

"It is dangerous for a number of reasons," he told the Evening Press.

"The rivers aren't clean enough to swim in, so even if people aren't actually jumping off they are still putting themselves at risk."
