I AM writing to protest in the strongest possible terms about the recent price increases for Park and Ride users.
As a regular passenger from Askham Bar, I use a monthly card which, when I started commuting daily into York last September, cost £21 per calendar month. This went up in October 2000 by 4.76 per cent to £22, and now - a mere ten months later - this has further increased by 15.9 per cent to £25.50 per month.
Since inflation is still close to the government target of 2.5 per cent, I find the level of pricing ridiculous and a deterrent to the idea of keeping commuters' cars out of York city centre. How can First York justify such increases?
