I SEE Impressions (July 24) includes comments on teenage sex. When I was a pre-teenager, pupils in my school year were chosen as guinea-pigs for sex education. Mother had to give written permission.

Our sophisticated, enlightened head teacher was present at the series of lectures given among pickled entrails in the biology laboratory by a glamorous red-headed woman doctor. These ranged from frog-spawn to childbirth.

I was, and remain, absolutely baffled.

However, I did think the treatment of unmarried pregnant girls was often extremely cruel.
