Pickering continued on their march towards the division five title when they walloped New Earswick by 10 wickets.

Ex-Garforth player Richard Atkin made an unbeaten 31 for Earswick who were all out for 82 as Will Curtis took 4 for 25 and an unidentified bowler 6 for 30.

Pickering's Kevin Wilson then maintained his 100-plus average by making an unbeaten 54.

Civil Service moved out of the re-election zone for the first time when they beat Cawood by 64 runs when the latter were shot out for just 51 by John Winfield, who took 7 for 28 in 15.4 overs.

Service had previously been dismissed for 115 by Howard Steen (4 for 36) and Miles Taylor (4 for 52).

Rowntrees pulled of a remarkable victory over long-time rivals Stillington when they won a nail-biter by three runs.

With 21 players not available, Rowntrees had seriously considered conceding the fixture when they only had seven players listed to play on Friday evening.

However, two debutants were recruited and a tenth player joined the team late after leaving work.

Nevertheless Rowntrees were soon in trouble at 24 for 3, which deteriorated to 48 for 5 before A Pattison and Phil Grayson added 49 for the sixth wicket.

Grayson fell for 22 but Pattison went on to make his highest score in anyone's memory, reaching 36 not out in his side's 105 for 8.

Clive Wakefield bowled with little luck but still captured 5 for 45.

Apart from opener Ben Drummond, who made 39, Stillington's batsmen failed to come to terms with the rain affected pitch and had lost nine wickets when the final over started with eight runs needed to win.

Denis North struck the first ball to the boundary but was then caught off the next delivery to leave Stillington all out for 102.

Grayson, with 6 for 41, and youngster William Burns, who took 3 for 23, were Rowntrees bowling heroes while stand-in wicket-keeper Duncan Robertson claimed four victims.

Sessay cemented their second place with a 70-run win over fourth-placed Selby.

Keith Till made 48 in Sessay's 182 for 8 as John Still took 4 for 68. Ian Watkinson then took 5 for 22 and Richard Wentworth 3 for 36 as Selby were bowled out for 112.

Third-placed Tadcaster Magnet lost ground when they could only draw with local rivals Bolton Percy.

Colin Thacker made 45 not out and Andrew Rigby 40 as Bolton made 158 for 8 with Kevin Wakefield taking 4 for 31 and John Reynolds 3 for 79.

Wakefield followed with 30 and Alistair Mackay 56 but their team-mates made scant contributions to their final score of 124 for 6.

The result of the Heslington versus Hovingham game has not been received, while the Pocklington game against Malton and Old Malton was abandoned after 21 overs but no other details were given.
