The fourth division was the worst hit by the rain with play not starting at Carlton Towers against Sheriff Hutton, only eight balls being delivered in the match between Acomb and Huby and 19.1 overs bowled by Thirsk who had Thorp Arch reeling at 34 for 4.

Yapham took advantage of Huby's inactivity to increase their lead to 32 points by winning at Huntington.

Wally Baynes made 31 as Huntington reached 118 for 9 with John Flint capturing 3 for 10.

Trevor Walker then headed Yapham's reply with 66 and a three wicket win was achieved with 3 overs to spare despite the efforts of Steve Beales, who took his bag to 58 wickets for the season with 4 for 41, and Nick Thurlow, who supported with 3 for 46.

Recent Easingwold recruit Graham Saunders hit an unbeaten 120 while Kevin Smith (44) and Trevor Smith (31) also made good contributions which enabled Easingwold to declare at 213 for 2 against Dringhouses.

Responsive runs then came from Ted Nicholls (71) and Geoff Smith (28) but Adrian Leckenby's 4 for 73 just tipped the scales against Dringhouses who closed on 181 for 8.

Veterans Steve Whitaker (5 for 39) and John Goodrick (4 for 52) bowled Dunnington to victory over Sheriff Hutton Bridge after making 148 for 9.

Dunnington's runs came from Jim Fordham (47), Gary Andrew (37) and youngster Ben Hough (23) as 16-year-old Richard Coverdale took 5 for 40 for the Bridge.

In reply, Craig Hunter made 45, Steve Glaves 21 and Chris Walls 20 but the Whitaker/Goodrick duo had them all out for 118.
