The status quo was maintained between the top two sides in division three when leaders Hornsea and second-placed Malton and Old Malton took 25 points from convincing victories.

Hornsea visited Heworth II and restricted them to 96 for 9 with only Mal Caddie showing with 28. Hornsea then knocked off the runs for two wickets.

Malton and Old Malton's victory over Londesbrough Park was equally convincing as they ran out winners by seven wickets after Danny Foxton's 6 for 25 had dismissed Londesbrough for 86. Neil Johnson was unbeaten with 44.

Third-placed Hovingham lost further ground when their home game with Heslington was abandoned at tea-time. Heslington's Robin Cockerill posted his fifth half century as he closed in on the 500-run tally with 69 in his side's 176 all out. Jonty Rounthwaite was again Hovingham's leading wicket taker when he followed his 5 for 2 of the previous week with 4 for 25 and there were three-wicket hauls for two youngsters, Philip Aconley, who had 3 for 42, and Stephen Mosey, who took 3 for 46.

Draw specialists Woodhouse Grange gained their 11th such result when they had the better of the encounter at Bolton Percy. Grange clinched full batting points as they made 216 for 8 through Stuart Craven (42) and Howard Johnson (55).

For Bolton, 15-year-old Pip Malloch claimed 4 for 30 and Peter Houseman 3 for 44.

Bolton openers Jamie Rigby (55) and Nick Lister (63) gave their side a fine platform to launch their winning bid but then saw their team-mates fail to deliver as Graham Smith (5 for 42) and Russ Bilton (4 for 78) had the home team bordering on defeat at 180 for 9.

New Earswick's Andrew James failed by just three runs to hit his second successive ton and third three-figure score of the season when he fell for 97 at Cawood.

Home bowler Nigel Bartram took 5 for 60 but Earswick were still able to declare at 206 for 8.

In reply, Tom Bartram made 36 and Shaun Robson an unbeaten 50 but Cawood were never in the hunt and had to settle for a draw at 138 for 7 as Andy Freeman took 4 for 50 and Martin Hewitson 3 for 33.

The only side in the league without a victory, Osbaldwick II, finally broke their duck at the 16th attempt when they gained a two wicket victory over fellow strugglers Selby.

Selby were dismissed for 112 by Marcus Hollis (4 for 38) and Nigel Rippon (4 for 61) but struck back through Richard Laycock who claimed 4 for 28.

Osbaldwick were indebted to Stuart Hall (33) and Dhiran Joshi (31) who, between them, eased their side to a winning 113 for 8.
