Hull Zingari and Goole Town maintained their top two positions in division two after dismissing their opponents for low scores.

At Hull, Tadcaster Magnet were bowled out for 69 by Kevin Deighton, who took 4 for 8, and 17-year-old Matt Wilkin-son, who captured 4 for 18. Hull then coasted to a matchwinning 70 for 2.

Promotion contenders clashed at Goole where Harrogate were whipped out for their lowest total since reclaiming their place in the York League.

In a game reduced to 30 overs, Harrogate's batsmen made no headway as Dave England captured 5 for 30 and Andrew Gibbins 4 for 15.

Harrogate stalwart Peter Kippax also found the Goole track to his liking and his spin came near to pulling off a remarkable win as his 5 for 7 had Goole struggling over the finishing line at 58 for 8.

Castleford veteran Alan Kirk ended his side's game at Bubwith in spectacular fashion as he struck the final delivery of the match for six to clinch a tie. Richard Hunter was the mainstay of the Bubwith innings making 59 as Paul Wainwright took 4 for 49 to restrict Bubwith to 125 for 7. David Stevenson with 4 for 54 and Charlie Cameron (3 for 31) then seemed to have restricted Castleford to the worst of a draw before Kirk's intervention took him to 34 not out and his side to 125 for 8.

Civil Service's fortunes continued to improve with an advantage draw at Clifton Alliance and they are now only 27 points adrift at the bottom after being virtually out of sight three or for weeks ago. George Brown made a useful 75 not out to help the Service to 174 for 9. Dave Heartshorne (4 for 49) was the pick of the Alliance attack and had good support from teenager Alistair Wray, who took 3 for 34 against his former club. In Clifton's response, Tom Malloch hit 45 and John Bladen an unbeaten 43 but Reece Houghton's 5 for 72 kept the home batsmen within bounds at 146 for 9.

Bridlington's trip to Scarborough ended in disappointment when the game was abandoned shortly after they set out in pursuit of a home score of 201 for 6. Two of Scarborough's young batsmen were among the runs with 18-year-old David Morris making 63 and 19-year-old John Harrison 25. Mark Welford then hit an unbeaten 46 as Boro netted the full batting points. Bridlington had made 24 for 1 in reply when the weather intervened.

Rowntrees improved their survival chances when they had the better of a draw against fellow strugglers Whitkirk II, who are now 49 points behind their opponents. Home skipper Matt O'Brian took 5 for 55 but handy knocks by Barry Steel (38) and wicket-keeper Tony Thomson (34) saw Rowntrees reach 158 all out. Whitkirk's reply hinged on Peter Farrar's 45 but he had little support and saw his side reduced to 121 for 8 by Paul Horner (3 for 55) and Tony Edwards (3 for 20).
