Bottom-placed Wilberfoss were unable to mount a challenging total when they batted first against division one leaders Beverley Town in a game reduced to 33 overs.

Kev Davison made 36 and Matt MacIntosh 39 but the fragile Wilberfoss batting subsided as Shaun Lightowler became the first bowler in the division to reach the 50-wicket mark as his 5 for 57 took him to 52 wickets and pegged 'Foss to 115 for 7.

Jamie Mitchell then made 32 as Beverley claimed an easy win at 116 for 3.

Both sides suffered frustration at Duncombe Park where the game was abandoned at the tea interval after second-placed Pocklington had made 126 for 8 in their 35 overs.

The abandonment denied any batting practice for the hosts in advance of their Edward Readman Trophy final on the following day.

Ian Camwell and Dave O'Gram each made 36 for Pocklington as Will Mallory claimed 3 for 32 and Paul Wilkie 4 for 50.

Duncombe Park's Readman Cup opponents, Carlton Towers, warmed up for their most important game since joining the York League by thumping Stillington by ten wickets.

Mohammed Hafeez furthered his bid to become the first player to reach 1,000 runs when his 89 took his seasonal aggregate to 849 while Paul Mosey made an unbeaten 60 as the hosts reached 170 for 2.

Carlton's Stuart Coleman then cracked his fourth century of the season, making a round unbeaten 100 as he and his captain, Paul Wright (56no), knocked off the runs without loss in just 33 overs

Crayke's Gareth Graham improved on his debut performance of 4 for 28 last week when he captured 5 for 19 against struggling Driffield.

With Mark Hutchinson taking 5 for 62, Driffield, who have recorded only one victory this season, were dismissed for 87.

Crayke then raced to a nine wicket victory in just 16 overs with Dave Thomas (29) being the only casualty and Graham Dawson stitching up the victory with an unbeaten 38.

Dringhouses had just four balls to spare when they bagged a five wicket win at Stamford Bridge.

Martin Veysey made 47 for Bridge who were dismissed for 128, largely due to Kev McGuinness who took 6 for 67 in 22 overs.

When Dringhouses batted, John Crowe hit 36 as Veysey posed some problems with 3 for 27 but Scott Jacques was able to steer his team to victory with an unbeaten 32.

York's promotion challenge was further dented when they came off second best in a drawn game with Sessay.

Sessay were able to bag the full tally of batting points thanks to 92 from Nick Harrison and back-up from Matthew Till (39) and Tom Kay (32).

Andrew Kay then replied with 52 for York but Till's 4 for 54 kept them in check and they had to settle for the 75 per cent mark as Graham MacFall's 27 helped them to 159 for 7.
