Members of York RI Judo Club were honoured with a visit by Hisashi Tsuboi, one of the most senior judo coaches in Japan, and a team of top judoka from Komazawa University in Tokyo.
Mr Tsuboi is graded 7th Dan, two grades higher than the most senior black belt, and was accompanied by Kenji Miya, 5th Dan.
The York club invited other judoka from around the county to take part in a two-hour training session in which Mr Tsuboi gave instruction on many throws and demonstarted the practice methods he uses with his team.
Mr Tsuboi said: "The coaches at York Judo Club have great knowledge of judo and the quality of training that they give to their members is extremely high."
The RI club train at the Railway Institute gymnasium in Queen Street, York, on Mondays and Fridays, 6.20pm (juniors under 16) or 8.20pm (seniors over 16).
