VINTAGE fairground attractions have been delighting both young and old at York's National Railway Museum.
The steam-driven rides, which include an ornate carousel dating back to 1893, arrived at the museum, in Leeman Road, at the weekend.
The fairground, which includes music, a vintage lighthouse slip helter-skelter, and a junior Chair-O-Plane ride, is set up in the museum's south yard and will run until Sunday.
Camilla Harrison, spokeswoman for the museum, said the fairground created a wonderful atmosphere.
She said: "It's lovely, it really is a great atmosphere in the south yard when the fairground it here because the music is great and everyone is enjoying themselves.
"The children can't believe that it's actually here.
"People expect it at the seaside, but it's a nice surprise for them when they see it at the museum."
The National Railway Museum is open between 10am and 6pm daily. Entrance is free to children under 17 and people over 60.
