Scarborough FC's two-biggest wage-earners Paul Ellender and Steve Brodie have been transfer-listed as the club tries to ease it's financial problems.

Said chairman Darrell Littlewood: "The biggest debt we have is to the Inland Revenue and we have an agreement to meet that, but we have to reduce our wage bill to bring it in line with our income and that is why Ellender and Brodie will soon be leaving.

"When they have gone, the manager Neil Thompson will be able to strengthen his squad with four or more players and that has got to be the sensible solution for us."

Thompson has had several trialists at the club, with former player Chris Short a possible recruit along with ex-Newcastle midfield man Stuart Elliott.

The cancellation of last night's game at North Ferriby meant that former York City striker James Turley was unable to stake a claim for a place at the McCain Stadium.

Thompson, the ex-York boss, now has to wait for the visit of Derby County on Saturday before he can have a look at the players.
