After reading stories regarding the ease and low prices of buying drugs in York (Evening Press, August 30 and 31), I found it difficult to understand why a newspaper as popular as the Evening Press would indicate to readers that York is more or less a drugs capital.

Why on earth was the Evening Press so irresponsible to advertise the areas where people could obtain drugs within the city?

I have lived in York all my life and never been offered any such substance or even seen any dealing on the streets.

The recent publication about a young man who had travelled to York and been able to obtain heroin within a short period is a ridiculous attempt to blacken the name of a good city.

As indicated within the article, he was residing in a bail hostel with 70 per cent of residents being drug users.

This does not make the rest of the city bad. If a person lives in such environments where drug addiction is high, and has probably used them before, they are more likely to suffer the consequences.

Maybe you should concentrate on stories that show a majority of residents in the city not the minority.
