THE Poppy Appeal will be launched on October 28. This is the 80th anniversary of the Royal British Legion during which time the Poppy Appeal has helped to fund the legion's work to deliver a caring service for the benefit of the ex-service community in need continuously since 1921.
More people than ever are approaching the legion for help and the need for public support is as great as ever.
Armistice falls on Remembrance Sunday this year, providing a chance for a special act of remembrance. Please support the Poppy Appeal this year so that help can be given to those who have given so much.
County Councillor Geoffrey Rennie, Chairman of North Yorkshire County Council,
Northallerton.
