WHEN a pursuit of the student pound ends in the police pound, you know it must be Freshers' Week.
Many of York's new bars are aimed at the undergraduate market, and competition for their custom is fierce. So The Varsity sent out a couple of hounds to round-up thirsty scholars, upsetting its rivals in the process.
We will watch the contest hot-up with interest. Will Keystones hit back by sending out comedy cops to collar customers? Will the Slug and Lettuce dispatch man-sized molluscs on their trail? Could Edwards' team of crack teddies bear down on barflies? And if the police cells are full, will they farm furry offenders out to the zoo?
