YORK RUFC Under 15s edged out cross-city rivals York RI 27-10 at New Lane.
Mark McDaid opened the scoring with a try in the corner. Flowing rugby from both teams continued with first RI drawing level as Dave West zipped in for a try followed shortly afterwards by Robbie Warriner to give RI a half-time lead 10-5.
Despite a strong wind both teams continued to push for tries, Eoin Elloitt and Nick Heseltine scoring tries to nudge York 15-10 in front.
As RI went for broke two breakaway tries by Alistair Snook and Greg Bond, one converted by Nick Heseltine, gave a final score of 27-10 to the visitors.
