The newly formed York Acorn under-11s gave a great display to pick up their first win, 8-4, over Doncaster Toll Bar.

Tries by Luke Watling and Ryan Richardson brought them their points but the all round display of James Bromwich did much to preserve the win.

Acorn under-14s continued their fine start to the season with a 24-18 win over Rodley Rockets.

For the opening quarter Acorn struggled to get out of their own half but when they did, Lee Acaster opened the scoring in the corner and man of the match Jason Smith powered over from all of 50 metres.

Adam Sellars goaled before Adam Winterburn notched another try, but Rodley rallied to score ten unanswered points before half-time.

Good pressure saw Acorn increase their lead to 18-10 through Tim Elliott but back came Rodley with a try.

A well rehearsed scrum move saw Smith go in again, Acaster converting, and despite a late Rodley try Acorn held on.
