ONLY eight league games were played as most teams were locked in the York FA Cup.

Wigginton Black Horse moved into second place in division one despite being held to a draw at home by Civil Service.

In a close game there was no score until the hour mark when Steve Hudson put Black Horse into the lead. But substitute Neil Hunter grabbed a point for Civil Service 15 minutes later with his first touch of the ball.

St John's won their first game of the season in style, 4-1 at Huby.

The home side took the lead in only the second minute when Tom Green netted.

However, the students took the lead before half time and cut loose in the second half to take complete control.

Tony Wilford in the Huby goal had a mixed afternoon. His errors gave the opposition three soft goals but then he redeemed himself with a string of fine saves as the students threatened to reach double figures in the second half.

Paul Clarke opened the scoring for Heslington with a goal in the 15th minute of their division two derby with Fulford, but Carl Hodgson equalised for Fulford with a long range effort.

Dave Houldridge finished off a good move before half time to put Fulford into the lead and John Durham made it three after the restart.

Heslington fought back and Steve Norman reduced the arrears with six minutes remaining to set up a frantic finale to the game but Fulford held out for their second win of the season.

Copmanthorpe's 100 percent start to the season remains intact after a scare at Church Fenton where they had to come from behind to beat White Horse who are struggling to find their form.

Darryl Lefevre opened the scoring for Copmanthorpe but Steve Long equalised for White Horse and the teams turned round all square.

Simon Ashton put White Horse in front after half time but two goals from Mark Flood ensured the points for Copmanthorpe.

In division three Paul Jones became top scorer for the day bagging all four goals for Moor Lane in their 4-2 win at Strensall. He included two first half penalties in his tally.

Chris Graham and Nick Pipe (penalty) responded for Strensall.

Poppleton and Rawcliffe Rangers were evenly matched. Poppleton hit the Rangers' crossbar twice and the Rangers hit a post before Darren Wray broke the deadlock five minutes from the end to score the only goal of the game and take Rawcliffe to the top of the table.

In a high-scoring Reserve 'B' game Darren Bardy (2), Paul Storr, Dean Carter, Adam Errington and Rob Sanderson all found the net to give Rufforth a 6-3 win over Boroughbridge, whose Darren Fowles and Matthew Wix (2) replied.

Two John Parkin goals gave Wilberfoss the points in a close Reserve 'C' game at Fulford. After a blank first half Wilberfoss took the lead. Shaun Cade equalised before Parkin's second won the game.
