I FEEL I am trapped in York. I live just off Fulford Road. When I returned to York in March I noticed that there was a major increase of traffic in York, particularly on Fulford Road. Over the past few weeks the congestion has become worse.
I say I feel trapped because I have great difficulty getting out of York to visit people. It can take anything up to half an hour to get on to the A19 regardless of which way I go.
My daughter lives in Pudsey. Prior to the roadworks at Copmanthorpe I could get on to the A64 from Fulford Road and then straight to Leeds and Pudsey. Now I can be stuck in traffic for some considerable time.
Cemetery Road is now going one way. More chaos. TC Hemmingway of York police suggested that drivers find ways to avoid Fulford Road. Is there anyone out there that can give some suggestions because I feel I will have to hibernate for a while?

...WITH all the traffic chaos in the York area at the moment, now is an excellent opportunity to get rid of the stupid traffic calming chicanes in Heslington.
These cause queue-backs both ways even at off-peak times and at peak times it is horrendous.
Surely humps would have been a better option, slowing traffic down and not stopping it altogether? Come on City of York Council, act sensibly for a change.

Key Way,
Fulford, York.
