YORK Wasps are in the running to sign Doncaster Dragons centre cum winger Carl Hall.

Although Wasps chief executive Ann Garvey has laughed off rumours that the club are close to securing his signature, she has admitted that they have been in contact.

Furthermore, she believes that ex-Dragons star Peter Edwards' return to Huntington Stadium might help persuade the 32-year-old Hall - who has not agreed a new deal at Belle Vue - to follow in his footsteps and make the switch to York.

"I will speak to him once we've looked again at the position," Garvey told the Evening Press.

"I've had a quick word with him asking whether he would want to come to York but at the moment he runs a pub in Doncaster and there are drawbacks.

"There is a possibility now that Peter Edwards has arrived that he might become more interested but that is as it stands at the moment."

Hall will at least have fond memories of playing against Wasps. The former Featherstone flyer scored in Dragons' defeat of Wasps at Belle Vue last season and in January 2000 notched the 100th try of his career against the York club while playing as a winger.
