YORK turf specialist Rolawn has gone the way of the druids.
The firm has received an order to supply 325 square metres of washed turf for use in the grounds of the famous ancient monument at Stonehenge.
Rolawn has already kitted out a number of football pitches at clubs in the FA Carling Premiership such as Chelsea and Leeds United, as well as a number of golf courses.
Sales and marketing director Terry Ryan said: "The landscaper in charge of the project required turf that would root quickly.
"Due to the large number of people who regularly visit the site, it was extremely important that the reinstated areas should be available for use by heavy foot traffic quickly.
"Rolawn's washed turf is perfect for this.
Our unique washing process leaves the turf roll intact with a healthy aggressive root system.
"It is also very light and can therefore be laid in much less time than standard turf."
