IT took two goals in the second period of extra time for Leeper Hare York and District League premier division side Boroughbridge to beat division one opponents Post Office in the second round of City of York and District FA Saturday Senior Cup.

Boroughbridge made all the early play but Post Office nearly took the lead when Rich Winterburn cracked a 40-yard unstoppable shot past the Boro 'keeper only to see the ball rebound to safety off the post.

With five minutes of the first half remaining Boroughbridge took the lead when the Post Office 'keeper could only parry a Paul Vincent shot to Alan Partington, who scored from close range.

In the second half Boroughbridge were still on top without creating any scoring chances but they were shocked after 68 minutes when, following a corner, Richard Dalby equalised for Post Office.

Post Office came more into the game, but Duncan Quick squandered a great chance for Boroughbridge after a great run by Guy Martin.

Seven minutes into the second period of extra time Rob Timmins nodded in a Daryl Perry cross to put Boroughbridge ahead and three minutes later a solo run and cross from Martin left Partington the simplest of tap-ins to give Boroughbridge a 3-1 victory.

Dunnington hit back from being 2-0 and 3-1 down to win 4-3 at Kartiers.

Graham Cannon got the first two goals for Kartiers. Matthew Shelton reduced the arrears for Dunnington with a tap-in. Andy Richardson restored the Selby side's two-goal advantage and before the interval Ian Burgess headed Dunnington's second goal.

Dunnington moved up a gear in the second half and Chris Burgess got the equaliser. Kartiers were awarded a penalty but Dunnington 'keeper John Pooley made a tremendous double save.

With 15 minutes remaining Simon Wood headed Dunnington's winner.

Aaron Craggs got both goals for cup holders Pocklington in their 2-0 win at Osbaldwick.

New Earswick, who have made a disappointing start in the premier division, were too strong for Hammerton United, who play in a division below, and ran out 4-0 winners.

Old Malton, last year's beaten finalists, won 4-0 at home to Rufforth United, the pick of the goals being a 25-yard shot by Phil Hill.

Mark Scoreby scored both goals as Dringhouses won 2-0 at Crayke.

Nestl Rowntree romped to an 8-1 win after going a goal down in the first half at home to Riccall, whose Alan Jackson netted following a corner.

In the second half John Thornton scored four times for Nestle, Joe Gaughan got three and Steve Blake one.
