LEADING local singing group the York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir is putting its vocal talents to good use.
The choir is raising funds for St Leonard's Hospice in a special concert at English Martyrs Church, Dalton Terrace, York, this Friday.
In a special programme the choir, which draws its 40 members from a wide area, will perform a variety of pieces to suit all tastes - including spirituals, religious works, opera choruses, and songs from musicals, all under the direction of their conductor, Berenice Hopkins.
Tickets for the concert, which are available on the door, cost £6. All proceeds go to the hospice, and support its work in caring for local people with life-threatening illnesses.
Janet Morley, fundraising manager for the hospice, said: "York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir has a great reputation, and we know that everyone who goes to hear them in this special concert is in for a treat.
"We are very grateful to them for putting their voices to such excellent use in support of our work at the hospice."
