YORK RI Ladies scored an 8-1 home win over Rowntrees in division one of the York Badminton League.
Bridget Denton and Anne Murray topped the Institute averages with three straight wins for 90-35. Joan Emmerson and Emma Andrew responded for Rowntrees with a 15-5 13-15 15-4 over Joy Wilson and Sarah Thompson.
The Institute men went one better against Rowntrees with a 9-0 home win at their Queen Street gym. Richard Pauw and Tim Jarvis took the home honours with three straight wins for 90-17.
Selby Jubilee men made it two from two with a 7-2 home win over Millthorpe in men's two. Roy Cannon and Andy Hatfield topped the home averages with three wins for 104-65, including a tough 14-17 15-11 15-11 over Paul Forth and Sam Watson.
Drax 'A' proved too strong for Clifton 'B' in mixed one winning 9-0 at their home venue. Phil Brunyard and Julie Smyth put in the best Drax display with three straight wins for a return of 90-25.
Clifton 'B' suffered a further 9-0 reverse when they visited their 'A' team clubmates at St Peter's School. Phil Sinton and Shelagh Barker played to form to record three straight wins for 90-52. Dave Streather and Sandra Robinson played well for the 'B' team without success.
Huntington 'A' opened their mixed two season with a 7-2 home win over Millthorpe. Bev Tebbutt and Alistair Jewison played the anchor role for Huntington with three wins for 90-46. Paul Elliott and Anne Casper took both Millthorpe wins, but lost nine and ten to Tebbutt and Jewison.
York RI 'B' visited Selby 77 in and won 5-4 despite being a pairing short.
Phil Dyson and Sarah Thompson took the vital maximum for 103-58, including the match-winning 15-13 13-15 15-8 over Dave Hearn and Alison Dinsdale.
Pocklington 'A' travelled to Drax 'B' and won 9-0 in mixed three. Mark Burrows and Pam Palmer topped the Pocklington averages with a total of 90-37 from three straight wins.
University Staff Club 'A' played well to score an 8-1 home win over Pocklington 'B' in mixed four, Andy Brown and Rachel Adamson took all three in straight sets for a return of 90-33. Chris Hyde and Tom Rastall took the Pocklington consolation.
