ARRIVA bosses considering massive cuts to their winter services were today threatened with a £2 million fine - for previous cancellations.

The Strategic Rail Authority has issued an enforcement order against the network, for service cancellations from May to September.

But the rail watchdog has allowed the train operator to axe 1,000 services a week, from Monday.

SRA Chief Executive Mike Grant said: "If performance does not improve, the company faces the possibility of further serious sanctions."
