CYCLING carer Carol Warley is easing off the pedals after 30 years, and thousands of miles, in the saddle.
The 65-year-old home care assistant, from Stillington, has retired after working for North Yorkshire County Council since 1971.
During that time, only severe snow stopped her from cycling across her patch, which stretched from Easingwold and Crayke to Sutton-on-the-Forest.
"I'd go out in all weathers," she said.
"The only thing that stopped me was if it had snowed heavily and the gritters hadn't been out, but then I would walk.
"I don't think I'm particularly fit, but I think nothing of cycling all day."
But the bicycle won't be allowed to gather dust in her retirement. as Mrs Warley vows to continue visiting some clients on a private basis.
"I've been seeing some of them for 20 years, and I can't stop now," she said.
"I'll be keeping up some work on a private basis, and I'll still be cycling."
