A WOMAN found dead in a Selby hostel flat has been identified as 26-year-old Suzanne Johnson.
Her decomposed body was found in the flat, in Ousegate Lodge, by a council warden on Wednesday, October 10.
It is believed the body had been lying on a bed in the flat for almost a week before the grim discovery was made.
Post mortem tests were delayed because of the body's decomposed state, and police are still awaiting the results from samples taken for special analysis.
A Selby police spokesman said that once they had the results, a decision would be taken on whether to hold an inquest.
He said no one else was involved and the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
It emerged today that Miss Johnson had been living in Tadcaster for the last four years and had moved to the Selby District Council hostel flat, in Ousegate, in July.
A council spokeswoman said Miss Johnson had moved to Selby after splitting up with her boyfriend, but was due to move back to a council flat in Tadcaster the week her body was found.
Selby District Council's chief housing officer,Steve Martin, said Miss Johnson's body had not been discovered for almost a week because the warden had been on holiday.
