FORMER York City goalkeeper Dean Kiely was at the centre of bust-up that could lead to a crackdown on his Charlton Athletic team-mate Andy Todd.

Kiely was seen leaving Villa Park, where Charlton lost 1-0 in an FA Premiership game last night, sporting a huge black eye.

Charlton boss Alan Curbishley refused to comment on the identity of an earlier training ground bust-up that involved an unnamed player and Todd, who could be the subject of further punishment today.

Todd had already been disciplined over the incident by Curbishley, who axed him from his side for the clash at Aston Villa and left him in London.

Now an unhappy Addicks boss will discuss the incident with club chairman Richard Murray later today before deciding what further punishment to hand out to Todd.

Refusing to reveal the other player involved Curbishley did admit that he did feature at Villa Park where Charlton slumped to a Hassan Kachloul goal.

Said Curbishley: "There was a training ground incident on Tuesday and I left him (Andy Todd) at home. He was left at home as a disciplinary measure.

"It was an unsavoury situation for us and I am very disappointed in it. It happens sometimes in football and it will be dealt with.

"The incident happened just before we were leaving for the game with Villa, so I haven't had a chance to sit down with the chairman or anyone else.

"It was a football incident which unfortunately happens every now and then and it's not nice when it does and we'll have to act accordingly. I'm very disappointed with it.

"The other player involved was here (at Villa), but I'm not prepared to name him because it is better kept in house."

Kiely left Bootham Crescent in 1996 for Bury after making 239 appearances for the Minstermen. During the 1993-94 campaign he equalled the club record of 20 clean sheets.

After three seasons at Bury he joined Charlton in a £2million deal and has since earned several caps for the Republic of Ireland.
