WITH reference to the York Castle area redevelopment, York's Labour council will do as it always does once it has ploughed through the sham of public debate and the showing of alternative plans.
This dictatorial council will implement exactly what it wanted to do in the beginning and, if that means an extension of the Coppergate shopping complex, then that's what we will get.
When one sees the number of commercial properties empty in York centre, mainly because of high business rates, why do we want more?
There are many examples of this council's failings in and around York down the years, the outer ring road is one that nearly everyone experiences every day.
Labour's inadequacies seem to go right through the organisation. Remember the millions sunk into the Dome? Still more millions are now being spent 'doing it up to sell'.
When one casually asks in company: "Who voted this lot in?" not many people will own up. I hope I am proved wrong for once on the York Castle farce and citizens get their choice of development, if any is needed at all.
