New Earswick had a disappointing start to their Yorkshire Over 55s League campaign when they lost 83-57 to North Cave.
Only Eric Ward's rink managed to win, triumphing by 19-13 though it wasn't plain sailing with them losing a 10-5 lead in the space of four ends to be 11-10 down after 13 ends.
This sparked them into life, winning five of the following six ends.
The other home rink saw Ken Harrison's team, leading 14-9 after 14 ends, losing the last six ends and the game 19-14.
Away from home, Bob Edwards' rink twice came from behind to level the scores - at 6-6 after eight ends from being 6-2 down and then from being 12-7 down to 12-12 after 13 ends. But it wasn't to be for a third time as the home rink ran away to win the game 24-15.
in the other rink, Ray Clark's team struggled to find the pace winning only six of the 21 ends and losing the game.
