Friday, November 2

7.30pm: New Earswick Sports and Social Club annual bonfire and firework Display. Funfair, hot food and drink, licensed bar. Adults £2, children £1. Bonfire lit about 7.30pm, fireworks 8.30pm. Own fireworks not allowed.

Saturday, November 3

5pm: Carlton Towers giant family bonfire and firework display. With fairground, hot food, licensed bar, side shows and stalls. Displays at 6.30pm and 8pm.

5.30pm: Fireworks Bonanza, The Spotted Ox, Tockwith. Special fireworks fun (for young children) at 6pm in the beer garden, main event at 7.30pm, barbecue from 5.30pm. In aid of Tockwith Under -Fives. Times approximate, weather permitting (will be postponed to November 10 if conditions are bad).

6pm: Bonfire and fireworks display, Wilberfoss Sports & Social Club, Storking Lane, Wilberfoss. Best-dressed guy competition, refreshments and bar. Fire lit at 6pm, display starts around 6.45pm. In aid of the new village play area.

6pm: 10th South Milford village bonfire, off High Street, South Milford. Fireworks at 7.30pm. Advance tickets £3 from all village shops, post office and petrol station. Home-cooked food, barbecue, punch and a laser light show. Special guests will be Liz Rhodes and Ian White, from BBC RadioLeeds. The event has been organised by the Rotary Club of Osgoldcross and Elmet, in aid of local charities, schools and football teams.

6pm-8pm: Bilbrough bonfire. At Catterton side of village. Parking available in village (follow signs). Hot food, bonfire and fireworks at 7pm. Adults £2, children £1. In aid of play equipment for the village.

6.15pm: Westow village bonfire and firework display, Sandy Lane, Westow. Refreshments will include soup, jacket potatoes, hot dogs and toffee apples. The event is in aid of Westow Playing Field Fund. Entrance free.

6.30pm: Grand bonfire party, Yorkshire Museum of Farming, Murton Park, Murton. Also caf and bar. Admission free.

7pm: Starbeck fireworks and bonfire evening on the field next to St Andrew's Church.

Sunday, November 4

7.45pm: Bonfire and fireworks display, Harrogate Borough Council, Harrogate Stray. Fireworks 7.45pm, lighting of bonfire 8pm. Tel: 01423 500600.

Monday, November 5

6pm: Bonfire and fireworks, Red House School, Moor Monkton. Adults £6, children £2.50 (food free). Also tombola and tuck shop.

6.30pm: Bonfire and fireworks, Roebuck Inn, Appleton Roebuck. Fire lit 6.30pm, fireworks start at 7pm. Refreshments include hot dogs, burgers etc. Admission free.

7pm: Bishopthorpe village bonfire, Ebor Inn gardens, Main Street, Bishopthorpe. Bonfire food available, and tombolas and raffles. St John Ambulance and experienced marshals in attendance. The event is in aid of Bishopthorpe organisations. Tel: 01904 706190.

7.30pm: Royal Oak Inn bonfire, Hirst Courtney, near Selby. Fires lit 7.30pm, fireworks start at 8pm. Entrance fee for adults is £1, under 16s go free but must be accompanied by an adult. St John Ambulance and police in attendance. There will be a hog roast and a beer tent, and other refreshments will include pie and peas and burgers etc.

Remember the firework code

* Keep fireworks in a sealed box or tin

* Use them one at a time, replacing the lid immediately

* NEVER put fireworks in your pocket

* Read the instructions carefully, using a torch or hand lamp. NEVER use a naked flame

* Light fireworks at arm's length, using a taper or a firework lighter

* Stand well back and NEVER return to a firework after it has been lit, it could explode in your face

* Ensure that all children with fireworks are well supervised

* NEVER throw fireworks

- Keep all pets and animals indoors

* Take care of sparklers, wear gloves and dispose of sparklers in a bucket of water as soon as they are finished.
