A dozen rugby league starlets from in and around York are seeking a sponsor to help them enjoy possibly the biggest day in their sporting lives.
As reported in the Evening Press, the squad of under-9s from the York and North Yorkshire Service area are to play in a curtain-raiser to the first Ashes Test between Great Britain and Australia at Huddersfield's McAlpine Stadium on November 11.
They are looking for a backer to help purchase memento sweatshirts to be worn over their kit on the day. Anyone interested should contact coach/co-ordinator Tony Gargan (tel 0775 2621656), who said: "It's a big occasion in rugby league and the sponsor will get good coverage."
