I WAS saddened to read in the Evening Press that Purey Cust Nuffield Hospital is to close (October 31). It is undeniably good for the city that it is being replaced by a more up to date, purpose-built hospital, one which will benefit patients both in the private sector and the NHS.
But this charming building in its unique setting will be remembered as being a place of tranquillity, so important to the recovering patient, and so sadly lacking today.

...IN response to the front page headline Purey Cust Hospital to Close, I wish to reassure readers that The Purey Cust Nuffield Hospital is not closing, but is relocating.
I can confirm that we have recently been given the go-ahead to look for a site in preparation for a new hospital building.
However, this project is in its early stages and will not happen overnight.
I can confirm that until a new hospital is built, The Purey Cust Nuffield Hospital will remain open. We operate a thriving hospital and the new building is planned to expand our capacity and facilities.
