A YORK man died after being exposed to harmful dust while at work, an inquest heard.
York coroner Donald Coverdale recorded a verdict of death by industrial disease on Glynn Dale, who worked for 20 years as a tool and cutter grinder at York firm, Armstrong Patents.
Mr Dale, 65, of Highthorn Road, Huntington, breathed in harmful tungsten carbide and carborundum dust during his working life which had led to serious lung disease.
He died in York District Hospital on July 31.
Mr Dale, who received an industrial pension for his lung problems, also worked as an undertaker's assistant before retiring through ill health.
Mr Dale's daughter, Alison Piggin, said her father had suffered with a bad chest for the last four years.
Mr Coverdale told the inquest: "These substances are notorious for leading to industrial disease."
