Heworth 'A' continued their victorious run in the York Conservative Clubs' Carlsberg-Tetley Snooker League with a 6-1 demolition of Fulford 'A'.

Alan Reed surprisingly took the first frame for Fulford when he won on the black to inflict the first defeat of the season on Rickie Burdett. Keith Lawrence (29 break), Dave Taylor and Clive Whyte romped home for Heworth. Heworth are now four points clear as league leaders.

Gerald Mackenzie defeated Peter Mills in the final frame to give Acomb 'A' a 4-3 win over Bootham 'A'.

John Darley took the first frame for Bootham only for Mick Frampton to level the match by defeating Ken Taylor. Wins by Mark Darley and Colin Robinson (22 unfinished) made it 3-1 for Bootham but Richard Harris came back from being 30 in arrears to beat Brian Coulson (20 break) on the black and Keith Myers levelled the match for Acomb. Bootham 'B' remain the only other unbeaten side after defeating bottom placed Heworth 'B' 4-3. Bootham's winners were Jeff Brown, Tim Fillingham, Chris Granger and Fred Hough. Alf Appleby, Huw Faircliffe and Colin Richardson replied for Heworth.

Fulford 'B' rallied from 3-1 down to record their first win of the season by defeating Acomb 'B' 4-3. Bob Smith, Peter Stroughair, George Toone and Ray Thackway won for Fulford with replies for Acomb by Ken Bowser, Peter Frampton and Peter Lawson.

With the defeat of Richie Burdett there are now only five players who have played and won all four matches this season to lead in the Willsden Steel Player Of The Year competition.

Keith Lawrence's 29 was the highest break of the week so Clive Whyte with 58 leads in the North Wolds Printers' Competition.

Acomb made it three wins in a row as they trounced last year's Faber Shield Billiards champions Fulford 6-1 to open a one point gap at the top.

Successes by Mick Frampton, Ian Gillies, John Hutchinson, Keith Myers and Bob Ventress gave them the aggregate by 26 points. Richard Stroughair's 71-point win over Paul Clark, which included breaks of 28, 26, 22 and 20, secured Fulford's sole point.

Bootham 'A' maintained their second place with a 5-2 victory over Bootham 'B'. The 'A' team's winners were John Darley, Don Pringle, Colin Robinson (38, 20x2 breaks) and Ken Taylor (37, 30, 20 breaks). Tom Bamford and Tim Fillingham (32 unfinished) won for the 'B' team.

Ken Taylor (B), with a 65 break, leads the way in the Cameo Engraving competition followed by John Darley (B) with 41 and Colin Robinson (B) with 38.

Acomb took the last frame on the black to defeat Heworth 4-3 by reason of the aggregate to remain undefeated as league leaders in the Slater Cup Snooker Pairs League.

Last year's champions Bootham took the first three frames and the sixth to gain a 5-2 win over bottom placed Fulford. Bootham moved level on points with Acomb.
