TOP of the gleaming pots at The York Golf Club's annual presentation was Dave Holder.

He again lifted the club championship beating rival Hugh Jackson in the final of the Wilson Bowl.

Holder also won the 36-hole annual medal after a play-off with Jackson.

But there was some consolation for Jackson. He won the summer fourball partnered by his father.

The York GC's prize-winners were presented with their trophies by club captains B Dunning and Mrs J Irwin.

DRIFFIELD GC ended a 22-year run since last winning the Flamborough Golf Alliance Lisa Jane Trophy with an emphatic victory on their home course.

Driffield took full advantage of their home course and amassed a quite remarkable five-card stableford total of 241 to win by 17 clear points from second-placed Malton and Norton.

Defending champions Scarborough North Cliff finished second from last of the nine teams. Points placings were: Driffield 241, Malton and Norton 224, Flamborough Head 223, Kirkbymoorside 214, Scarborough South Cliff 210, Filey 208, Bridlington 205, Scarborough North Cliff 199, Whitby 196.

The next Alliance fixture is at Kirkbymoorside next Wednesday.

JUDY Jones ended her tenure as Fulford GC lady captain ended with a flourish when she won the 36-hole Melville Trophy medal event with rounds of 74 and 77, two ahead of Ann Robinson (79 74). Jenny Hawkins has now taken over as the new ladies' captain.

Dorothy Hourston meanwhile finished four shots ahead of nearest rival Anne Everton in the 1900 Anniversary medal with 77. Joan Smith won the veterans' trophy.

THE Price was right in Kilnwick Percy GC's pairs greensomes' competition.

Brian Price and Mick Johnson won with a nett 74 followed by Tony Hutchinson and Eric Sologub, who were second on count-back on 75 from Peter Williamson and Mark Gatenby.

In-form Matthew Burrows clinched the singles match-play title with a 3 and 2 win over Ben Donkin.

FULFORD GC's first round of the annual Social Cup winter competition was won by John Miller and Gordon Topping on count-back from John Bolam and Tony Stephenson after both totalled 41 points.
