I'M writing to complain about the report of the York City v Macclesfield Town match (Evening Press, Monday October 29).

I was at this match and have watched City for around ten years now and the things written do not match what occurred in this game.

The report named Gary Hobson as man of the match. In my opinion Alan Fettis should have got man of the match, as again he kept us in the game with some great saves.

It says the Minstermen battled hard and could have finished off Macclesfield by more than 1-0. I think that's rubbish and in your statistics York only had six shots all match and Macclesfield had five. That would suggest that Macclesfield had as many chances as York. So I don't know where the idea comes from that City could have won by more.

The report said the York defence was dominant. I think the report went too far, but the defence did have a better game than in previous games.

This season I have watched City and apart from the match against Crewe in the Worthington Cup, I cannot see any change in our play.

I went to Hull and Hartlepool and both games were terrible. Hull City was really disappointing as we did not even get into the game. For a local derby I think it is terrible that it appears we cannot even be bothered to play.

It seems to me that the club is happy in the Third Division and has no ambition in moving away. I see clubs like Brighton, Cardiff, even Hull, who are going somewhere. These clubs are lower league clubs and they have ambition. This is shown in their choice of manager and their desire to build a new ground.

I know and understand that York is not a club that gets 9,000 or more every game, but surely we can manage more than 2,500 when at home.

The fans who pay £9 a match have the right to voice their opinions. Terry Dolan does not have a clue, he has no ambition and it's about time he went.

Finally, since the Evening Press has started to sponsor York City, you have not reported fairly and accurately. Your views are biased and untrue.

Maybe it is about time you reported the truth and then people may see what a mess the club is in.
