POP Idol wannabe Hayley Bamford will perform during the switch-on of the Christmas lights at Monks Cross Shopping Park in York.
Hayley, of White Cross Road, York, will appear before millions of viewers on December 1 when she bids to go through to the last stage of the TV programme.
The 20-year-old is among the last 50 contestants whittled down from more than 10,000 in a series of gruelling auditions.
Hayley will join Countdown presenter Richard Whitely at the switch-on show on November 30.
