A YORK teenager was appearing before city magistrates today charged with the attempted murder of 71-year-old Edwin Hopper.
The 17-year-old, was charged on Saturday.
Mr Hopper, a widower, was discovered at the bottom of the stairs at his home in Middleton Road, Acomb, last Monday night.
He has remained in a serious condition in the intensive care unit at York District Hospital since the attack.
The youth was arrested following a series of appeals for information in the Evening Press from detectives and Mr Hopper's family.
