DAVE O'Hara and Jane Evans won a tremendously exciting high-quality York John Smith's Mixed League Mixed Pairs competition final.

The Bumper Castle duo, who were runners-up last time, won the title by beating Cygnet's Kev Walton-Dawn Exton 2-1. The contest sparkled with an amazing 15 ton-plus scores.

Jim Hawksby-Sue Smith fell 2-0 in the semi-final to the champions while trophy defenders Pete Leake-Karen Richardson lost 2-0 to Walton-Exton.

O'Hara was indeed in unbeatable form. He took the Men's Individual event, beating Neil Hart (21) then in the final the Beeswing player Hawksby (180 for 21), with excellent 18 and 19 darters.

Hawksby's progress was via a fine 180 for a 19-dart win over Dave Gibbons.

O'Hara then went on to take the Blind Draw Mixed Pairs.

Huntington's Michelle Britton was his 'out of the hat' partner and a 2-1 win over Walton and Diane Moreland was followed by another 2-1 against Leake and Chris Hayward of Beeswing. Leake included a 180 score.

Paul Cooper and Joan Hunter were the other beaten semi-finalists.

There was only one choice for the male 'Player of the Night' and similarly Dawn Exton consolidated votes on her behalf by clinching the Women's Individual with a fantastic 151 check-out for 18 darts against Slipper's Roz Kerr.

Exton won 2-0 against the reigning champion Tracey Farmeary and Kerr took out Britton 2-0.

The Three Fastest Finishes competition winners, achieved during the season, were (Men) Leake with 15, 17, 17 and (Women) Moreland who registered 21, 21, 23 darts.

O'Hara was in outstanding 16-dart form for Bay Horse against Clifton 'B' in York Atlas Auto Services division one.

Rich Corner added a 19-darter, while Paul Innes got Clifton's only point.

Martin Hagan, who shot with 19 darts, inspired Clifton 'A' to a last-game victory, in which he included 180 over Mitre, whose Russ Armstrong gamed in 18.

Paul Botterill's 19 darts for Volunteer was bettered by Bishopthorpe's Tony Raymond (18) but Volunteer took the win and extra point. Arthur Conyers included 180.

Escrick's Mark Blundell shone against Slipper, whose best was Steve Reynolds.

Stan Isaac (180) helped Crescent 'B' to a fine win over Fulford Arms, while Dave Brigham saved the aggregate point for Huntington 'A' against Woolpack, whose match winners were Andy Wallis and Ken Chappell.

Mick Ward (20) inspired Acomb against Crescent 'A', whose Jamie Radford recorded their only point.

From all-square, Cygnet took the pairs to run out good winners over Howden, and Ebor demolished Burton whose only resistance came from the Mandy Smith-Ron Caple pairing.

In division three, Baz Sherratt salvaged the aggregate for Bells, however Les Scaife and Steve Parkinson combined to seal victory for Leeman.

Despite excellent scores from Phil Paylor, Reindeer were whitewashed by Huntington 'B', Mal Woodward including a brilliant 126 finish.

Steve Reynolds (20) was best for Bumper, while a magnificent 17 darter from Mark Sommerville steered Jackdaw to a fine 5-4 win at Yearsley.

Tracey Atkin closed on 95 for Puss n' Boots 'A' in York John Smith's Ladies League division three but Clifton already had the match in the bag following good games by Linda Embleton (160) and Julie Maycock. Tang Hall WMC had Marie Ward closing on 94 in a 7-2 win against Woolpack.

Jubilee, in pole position, won 6-3 against Woodman whereas second-placed Shepherd led 4-2 at Leeman 'C' but needed Diane Clasper and Sue Fay to win the decider.

Maureen Hearfield and Nicola King took Old Ebor to victory against Puss 'B'.

Pacesetters Brigadier were three apiece with Phoenix 'A' due to a fine 22 darts from Roz Kerr. Kerr then partnered Julie Coyle to make it 4-3 and Michelle Britton and Karen Richardson sealed it.

Phoenix 'B' flew into a 7-0 lead at Clifton, which included big scoring from Sue Smith and Angie Hields.

Dawn Eton again carried the flag for Cygnet as they beat Vaults 6-3. Karen Alton in fine form helped Ox beat Nags 6-3.

Slipper were pipped by Dringhouses whose Chris Myhill and Sarah Bell took the decider.

Cygnet beat leaders Britannia 'A' to close the gap at the top of division two. Maureen Murray with Rose Hattee secured the win.

Lin Gould was outstanding for Holgate WMC but Brown Cow had the upper hand through Cherelle Jarvis, Freda Harman and Dorothy Barker and won 6-3.

Clifton shot to a 3-0 lead but Leeman 'B' responded with determination and in the decider Jean Smallwood partnered Dot Lightfoot to victory.

Julie Bruce and Jacqui Riddal ensured Burton WMC beat Shepherd.

Half Moon eclipsed Leeman 'A' but Margaret Yeomans played well. Claire Knaggs was Moon's best.
