HONOURS were even in the Leeper Hare York and District League premier division top-of-the-table clash between Dringhouses and Pocklington.

Defences starred in a goal-less first-half before visitors Pocklington broke the deadlock with a well-struck goal by Baz Gargett.

Dringhouses fought back to snatch a late leveller through Neil Rankeillor's brilliant header.

Wigginton Grasshoppers and Dunnington also shared the spoils.

Homesters Wigginton led 2-1 at half time through goals from Ben Coxon and Tom Matthews. The woodwork prevented a third.

But sharpshooter Andy Rose, who scored the first for Dunnington, notched his second in the final five minutes.

In a close collision at Riccall Rufforth prevailed with the only goal of the game snatched by Chas Brookes.

Home outfit Huntington were relieved to hear the final whistle in their match with Kartiers, whom they beat by the odd goal in five.

Jack Wilson put them in front with a well-taken header before Kartiers countered through Dave Rollinson.

Two minutes into the second period, Huntington regained the lead, Jamie Seal netting, and continued to have more of the play.

But they never accepted the chances they created, hitting the woodwork twice.

Kartiers worked hard and were always well in the game. Twice they missed out on two sitters, and keeping up the pressure they forced three consecutive corners, but were unable to take advantage.

But upping their game a further gear Kartiers drew level for a second time when Pete Winstanley snapped up his chance to fire home their second.

Huntington were not to be outdone and rallied to regain the lead, Graham McDonald breaking clear to slot home the winner.

Comeback of the day was staged by hosts Crayke, who at half-time trailed 4-1 to New Earswick.

The visitors were irrepressible in the opening half in which J Smith bagged a couple of goals to add to one apiece for Phil Hart and Paul Harrison before Simon Winstanley narrowed the gap.

But it was a differengt prospect after the interval.

Crayke came out much stronger, taking control with Mick Gosling bagging a brace and Mark Hutchinson claiming one from a goalmouth melee to share the points.

Champions Old Malton produced a fine all-round effort to beat hosts Bishopthorpe 3-0 and return to the top.

Steve Boyd opening the scoring after just four minutes, with the lead doubled shortly before half-time by Mickey Drew.

Bishops fought back well, but were unable to take advantage of some good scoring chances while being coralled by a stern Old Malton defence.

Just to confirm the away victory Darren Walker lobbed in Old Malton's third goal to make sure of the maximum haul.
