BRIAN JAMES, a winner at Sedgefield last season, can do the business again tomorrow.

The seven-year-old returns to the County Durham course for the Dickie Dods Memorial Handicap Hurdle, over a gruelling three miles and three and a half furlongs, and is napped to oblige in the hands of top northern jockey Tony Dobbin.

This marathon distance will hold no fears for Brian James, who scored over this trip here last term.

In the money on both his starts this season, the gelding seems to reserve his best performances for this course and he is fancied to have the edge over Denarius and recent course winner Sir Ruscott.

Givre can make the most of his light weight in the Newcastle Novices' Handicap Hurdle.

Richard Fahey's Irish recruit got off the mark on his second attempt over hurdles at Catterick recently when beating Tomenoso by two lengths.

That was only a claiming race and Givre has more on his plate here, but he figures at the right end of the handicap to make his presence felt. Paudge Whelan again has the mount.

In the Chilton Handicap Chase, Wayward Buttons deserves serious attention under Tony Dobbin.

Trained by Martin Todhunter, this fomer point-to-pointer gained a five lengths success over the odds-on What A Wonder over this course and distance last month.

A progressive performer, it would come as no surprise to see him follow-up here against more seasoned campaigners.

Moonlite Magic, another recent course winner, should make a bold bid for a repeat in the Durham Classified Hurdle, while recent winner Lazy But Lively will be a tough nut to crack in the Sedgefield 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle.

At Fontwell, Philip Hobbs and Robert Widger, memorably triumphant with Flagship Uberalles in Saturday's Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown, can continue their winning run.

The trainer-jockey partnership will be represented by Fast King in the Racing Page Juvenile Novices' Hurdle and this recent Bangor winner is expected to take plenty of beating.

Tom Scudamore is promised a good ride from Smart Guy in the Front Page Pubs Ltd Handicap Chase, while Adelphi Theatre, a beaten favourite at Ascot last time, can recover losses in the Tote Credit Club Handicap Hurdle.
