THE village column (January 7), informed us that Poppleton library will now only open in the day time. This is presumably as a result of the recent vandalism. There is also an article about vandalism on the Scarcroft Road allotments forcing gardeners to give up after decades.
The police and the council seem to have no answer to the problem other than to give up and to remove the facilities, whether they are access to books or the pleasure of gardening.
Are our city leaders going to continue to allow these vandals to ruin the quality of York people's lives?
