YORK City supporters are on the ball in their fight to save their club, writes Dave Stanford.
Manager Terry Dolan and skipper Chris Brass have lent a helping-hand to the fans' fund-raising drive by donating the match ball from the heroic FA Cup win over Grimsby Town.
The ball has been signed by the City squad and will now be auctioned at the next public meeting of fans - earmarked for February 1 at the Barbican Centre - when it is hoped the Supporters' Trust will be formally launched.
Pete Brandon, of the Save City working party, was delighted to receive the ball from the club.
"I understand Brassy wanted to thank the fans for their support against Grimsby," explained Brandon.
"It was a thank-you gesture from the players and staff at the club and it is very much appreciated.
"The fans really played their part on Tuesday night and it is great to know that their efforts didn't go unnoticed."
