VOLUNTEER booked a John Smith's Bitter Cup quarter-final tie at Hounds with a 6-1 win at York John Smith's Sunday League division two leaders Jubilee.

Steve Ward gave the visitors the lead after 20 minutes, only for an own goal to level matters for Jubilee five minutes later.

Volunteer went 2-1 up when Luke Bilham slotted home.

Jubilee pressed in the second half and were unlucky not to equalise before substitute Joe Gaughan increased Volunteer's lead.

Two minutes later Lee Bond put the result beyond doubt when he made it 4-1. Goals by Phil O'Riley and Garry Carter made it 6-1.

Thorpe United won 6-1 at Burnholme courtesy of a hat-trick from Clamp, two goals by Singleton and one from Smith. Thornton scored for Burnholme.

Goals by Lake and Barkway saw Severus WMC move to the top of division one with a 2-1 win at previous leaders Nestl Rowntree, whose scorer was Cox.

Adam Wash scored twice as Wigginton won 3-1 at Acomb WMC. Hounds won 3-1 against Pack of Cards, Cygan scoring twice.

The bottom of the table clash between Marcia and FC Magnet ended 1-1, Allison scoring for Marcia and Jack Wilson for Magnet.

Pocklington moved to within two points of division two leaders Jubilee with a hard fought 2-1 home win over Derwent Arms.

Andy Triffitt gave the visitors the lead in the second half and it took two goals in the last ten minutes, the first an own goal and then the winner from Charlie Bond, for Pocklington to win.

Riccall United gained their first point of the season with a 3-3 draw at promotion-chasing Blacksmiths Arms. Connell, Carmody (penalty) and Steward scored for Riccall.

Goals by Cooke, Wilford and Marwood gave Derwent United a 3-0 lead early in the second half at Carlton, who pulled two back through Danny Benson, but Derwent held on for a 3-2 win.

Hodgson scored twice for Fulford Bay but goals from Tanton (2) and a Hewitt penalty gave Selby Olympia a 3-2 win.

The Mount returned to winning ways to remain top of division three with a 4-1 victory over Beeswing. Dave Clark and Stewart Nicholl each netted two, with Turbine scoring for Beeswing.

Otis Bar are still hot on the leaders' heels after a 3-1 win at Copmanthorpe thanks to Allison, Tinson and an own goal.

Wilberfoss reduced the gap at the bottom to a point with a 2-1 win at Nestl Flag. Jamie Rank hit a hat-trick as BH Colts beat St Clements WMC 5-4.

Wigginton GH consolidated their place at the top of division four with a 5-2 home win over Keystones, Tom Coates (3) and Rob Murphy (2) scoring for the winners.

Hemingbrough, 4-2 winners at Raskelf, moved into second place. Ward (2), Harrison and Chalkley scored for Hemingbrough.

Haxby Lions maintained their championship hopes with a single goal victory at Acomb Celtic, Steven Sullivan the scorer.

Black Bull are also in the hunt after their 6-2 home win over Fulford WMC, Smallwood and Barrick each scoring twice.

Northern Spirit went 2-0 up at home to division five leaders Opticare, both goals from Neil Yeowart, but the visitors hit back through Matty Bastock (4), Mark Haigh (3) and Andrew Shepherd to win 8-5. Yeowart completing his hat-trick for Spirit in the second half.

Volunteer Reserves leapfrogged Greyhound into third spot when beating them 6-2. Jackson and Sullivan each scored twice for Volunteer. Rich Kerrison scored both Greyhound's goals.

Jimmy Mallison gave Inland Revenue an early lead but they had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Sporting CS. Michael Cammidge scored twice as Wanderers beat Boy & Barrel 3-1.

Hambleton are the new leaders of division six after a 4-1 win at Barlby Athletic.

Kirk, Reay and Dallison gave them a 3-0 lead at half-time. Paul Hughes scored for Barlby early in the second half but Hambleton held out until adding a fourth in the last minute through Abell.

Burton Stone beat First York 2-1 thanks to goals from Roberts and Strain. Sampson scored for First York.

Paine and Smales each scored twice as Northern Wall continued their good form with a 5-3 win over Beefeater.

Heslington beat CPP 3-1 with goals from Dublin, McClelland and Thorn.

The first league meeting of the year is on Thursday, January 31, at New Earswick Bowls Club.
