THE Labour Government has totally lost its roots - and its mind - by even contemplating a "toll tax" for driving on certain roads as a means of cutting down congestion.

The motorist pays enough road tax as it is without this suggested think tank proposal which blatantly discriminates between rich and poor.

A far fairer solution would be to adopt the policy of allowing cars with odd and even number plates to drive on alternate days.

However, the best solution of all is to have buses and trains that actually do the job they were intended to do: ferry people around without the discomfort of overcrowding and erratic time keeping.
