Darren Wyrill set two records playing for Thirsk against Clifton Alliance 'B' in division two of Hunters the Estate Agent York and District Senior Indoor Cricket League.

He made the quickest retirement on record and hit the fastest half century.

His retirement came when he followed a single and a three with four successive sixes to reach 25.

As two of the sixes came off no-balls, Wyrill had to retire after facing only four legitimate deliveries.

Oliver Grant hit two sixes, but was dismissed for 21 at 53 for one.

Des Wyrill made 34 not out before Darren returned and hit 50 off 12 deliveries, reaching his half century with three successive sixes before being caught.

Mal Hartley ended the innings with two sixes as Thirsk totalled 158 for four. In reply, Clifton were restricted to 55 for three.

Thirsk also beat Osbaldwick by four wickets with three balls to spare. Matt Dunne was Osbaldwick's top scorer with 46 out of 75 all out.

Thirsk lost two wickets for 26 in five overs, but were steered to victory by Des Wyrill, with 28 not out, and Dean Bramley, with an unbeaten 15.

However, Thirsk's chances of being runners-up were almost certainly ended by a four-wicket defeat by Pickering. Darren Wyrill made 28 not out but Thirsk struggled to 75 for three. Pickering won with over three overs to spare.

Bolton Percy's 48-run win over Clifton Alliance 'B' has virtually ensured them the title for the first time. Bolton made 140 for two and Clifton fell well short at 92 for three.

Bolton Percy then pipped Pickering by one run. Henry Houseman scored 45 not out of Bolton Percy's 129 for three. Pickering ended at 128 for four after failing to get the 16 they needed to win off the final over.
